劇情簡介

大正元年的某個冬夜，落魄的太田勝造（緒形拳 飾）和藝妓豐竹呂鶴（池上季実子 飾）私奔，結果遭到藝妓館黑幫的追殺。呂鶴彌留之際，將尚在襁褓中的女兒托付給勝造。二十年後，勝造成為一名藝妓的中介人，他的女兒房子（池上季実子 飾）亭亭玉立，相貌出眾。勝造將房子送入陽暉樓，拜托老板娘——同時也是呂鶴當年的情敵——阿袖（倍賞美津子 飾）擔當房子的師傅。經過一番艱苦訓練，更名為桃若的房子最終成為陽暉樓的一道招牌。
另一方面，盤桓與大阪的黑幫稻宗一傢圖謀入侵勝造所在的高知。恩情、親情、愛情，與江湖恩仇攪和在一起，上演瞭一出出言語無法道盡的人間悲喜劇……
