劇情簡介

傑裡邁亞在退伍後對城市生活產生瞭厭倦，遂到荒山野嶺中過著一種野蠻人的狩獵生活。嚴寒的冬季，當他遭遇危險時，老獵人“熊爪”搭救瞭他。一年後，他遇到瞭一個瘋女人，除瞭她和她的兒子，其餘的傢人都被印第安人殺害。傑裡邁亞收留瞭瘋女人的兒子。後來，他又救起瞭德爾·古。後者被印第安的黑足部落活埋，多虧瞭傑裡邁亞，才撿回一條命。他們成瞭知己。在傑裡邁亞的幫助下，印第安的“傻瓜”部落打敗瞭“黑足”部落，由此傑裡邁亞被“傻瓜”部落奉為英雄，他還同酋長的女兒“天鵝”結為夫妻。一次，在執行帶路的任務時，為抄近路，傑裡邁亞從“禿鷹”部落的聖地墓場穿過，這招致瞭“禿鷹”部落的報復——將傑裡邁亞的妻子和養子殺死。憤怒的傑裡邁亞大開殺戒，同“禿鷹”部落的人展開瞭激烈的搏鬥。最終，傑裡邁亞同“傻瓜”部落的人告別，離開瞭他生活瞭一段時間的大山。
